Week 7 Q4
What
we learn this week!
Spalding: This week we finish the 55 phonograms cumulative
test. Students will start their Spelling cumulative test with all the spelling
words learned in kindergarten. Spelling words will include the markings.
Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words
(ice, play, see, sea).
Reading
reminders:
Your
child should read to an adult as daily homework.
Practice
sight words as daily homework. Assessments on Wednesdays.
Minimal
goal by the end of fourth quarter, master 100 sight words, but the sky is the
limit! Students will grow confidence for first grade when they master the sight
words.
Literature: For literature this week we read “Mouse Tales” book.
Students are enjoying reading chapter books as a whole group and reading to
themselves. All week we worked with a reading comprehension packet to discuss
each chapter.
Math: With a new math unit, students are counting numbers
to 40, in order, and from any number to 40. We reviewed tens and ones, and fact
families.
Science: Insects! What an exciting unit! On Monday, students
identified insects from not an insect. Tuesday, we learned the parts of a ladybug
and its life cycle. Students created a craft for the ladybug and the dragonfly,
and they identified the six legs and three body parts.
History/Geography: This week, we studied the biography of Davy Crockett.
We learned some interesting facts about him, and why he was important. Davy
Crockett is remembered today for his bravery as a soldier and a frontiersman.
