Week 9 Q4

  What we learn this week! Spalding:  Students finished 100 spelling cumulative tests! This is an outstanding effort from kindergarten. You should be proud of your child. A tricky part of this test is that students need to remember and write the markings. I am so proud of the students! Great effort! Reading reminders: We are wrapping the reading levels and sight words now. We will report the numbers to administration with what students were able to accomplish this week. Also, we will report the numbers to the first-grade teachers to continue the reading process in first grade. We won't send any new books inside the reading bag next week. The reading needs to continue during the summer, so the students do not loose all the reading skills they learned during the school year. Week 8 Q4

  What we learn this week! Spalding:  Students worked on their cumulative spelling test all week. The test will continue next week. We assess 10 words per day. Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( bird, cool, earth ). Reading reminders: Your child should read to an adult as daily homework. Practice sight words as daily homework. Assessments on Wednesdays. Minimal goal by the end of fourth quarter, master 100 sight words, but the sky is the limit! Students will grow confidence for first grade when they master the sight words. Literature:   This week we continued the reading of “Mouse Tales” book. Also, we read “The Jolly Postman”, and practiced how to write a letter. By Friday, students reviewed the saying “Practices makes perfect”. Math:  We reviewed how to count to 40 from any number, count by tens to 100, and count or recognize all the numbers from 1 to 100. Science: We are still in our insect’s unit. W...
