Week 8 Q3

  Dear families, We are starting to wrap up the third quarter! Students will celebrate all they have achieved by showing their knowledge on their cumulative tests. New learning will continue as well. Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week! Notes:  Field Day is approaching on Wednesday March 5th! Students can wear comfortable sport clothes, closed shoes/tennis shoes (no flip flops, or lightning shoes), no spaghetti tank tops, and no pop culture please. Students need a water bottle . The PSO will provide the snack for the students, so do not send a snack. No backpacks for field day! Please apply sunscreen. Students can wear a cap too. Spalding:   Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( six, boy, book, by ). Students finished their cumulative test this week!   What we learn this week! Notes: Spalding:  We introduced the phonograms SI, TI, CI. Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( today, look, did, like ). Students started their cumulative test this week. We are not finished. We will continue testing next week . Please review and practice all phonograms learned since the beginning of the year, single, double, and three letter phonograms. Reading reminders: Your child should read to an adult as daily homework. Practice sight words as daily homework. Assessments on Wednesdays. Minimal goal by the end of third quarter, master 75 sight words. (5 sight words a week) , but the sky is the limit! Literature:  Our poem this week is “Sing a Song of Sixpence”. On Monday, we read the story “The Bremen Town Musicians”. The students enjoyed the story! We also started our study of fables. The first fable we studied was “The Ants and The Grasshopper.” Students are creating a booklet...

  Dear families, In preparation for the 55 phonograms cumulative test, please drill orally, but must important say the phonogram without showing it to your child and they need to write it. This will help your child retrieve the information from their memory. Reinforce handwriting and underline the two letter phonograms so your child can have all the points possible. In another note, students are not allowed to bring any medications to school and self-administer, that includes cough drops. You can visit the front desk to provide the nurse with the medications.   Dear families, Please keep practicing the 55 phonograms at home for a successful cumulative test at the end of February. This test is similar to the cumulative test from second quarter.
