Week 4 Q3

  Dear families, Mark your calendars! Our second field trip will be Tuesday February 25th. More information coming soon once the date is approaching. The highlight this week, Mrs. Chen from KB talk to students about the Chinese New Year Celebration. She showed students a Lion costume that one of her friends use to perform during this time. She also passed out chocolate coins to wish good luck to our students. Another highlight, visiting the library for the first time! Thank you for the trust and partnership, Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week! Notes: Spalding Cumulative Test with 55 phonograms at the end of third quarter. Spalding:  We introduced the phonograms AU, UI, GU. Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( of, be, but, this ). Students will test at the end of the third quarter a total of 55 phonograms in preparation for first grade . Please review and practice all phonograms learned since the beginning of the year, s...

Dear families, Please reinforce neat work and proper Spalding handwriting when working with students at home on their homework. The highlight of the week, on Friday, students celebrated the 100th day of school! Please asked them about all the activities they had throughout the day. They "cooked" their own snack! Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week! Notes: Please practice all the phonograms at home. Students will assess every Friday as usual, plus we will have a Cumulative test at the end of the quarter with 55 phonograms in total. Spelling words will be test on Fridays for now on as part of our weekly test. The rest of the phonograms after 55, will be taught but not test. Students will test from 56 to 70 in first grade. Also, students are loosing jackets. We always ask them to place them inside their backpacks when they are not in used. Make sure you label the jackets with their names. Without a name, it is hard for students to find them in the "lost and found...

Dear families, Thank you to all the families that donated supplies for the Squanto cooking project! For the second semester, these kindergarteners will work hard to finish with strong foundations for first grade. It is very important to continue all the routines in place for them to be successful in their academic progress. Perseverance virtue will be practiced all semester. Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( chance, charge, little, are ). Reading reminders: Your child should read to an adult as daily homework. Practice sight words as daily homework. Assessments on Wednesdays. Minimal goal by the end of third quarter, master 68 sight words. (5 sight words a week), but the sky is the limit!   Dear families, Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone is recharged and ready to start our second semester. The Arctic/Antarctic animal presentations went well. Students were very excited about presenting and watching their peers present. This is probably their first time presenting in front of an audience. Throughout their elementary school years, students will have more opportunities to present and gain presentations skills. Thank you for your support on this project, Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week! Spalding:  We reviewed all the phonograms learned last semester! Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( good, time, have, blue ). Two letters’ phonograms will be learned next week.
