Week 3 Q2

  Dear families, The weather feels like fall now! The students are progressing accordingly with their academics and reading. Make sure your child eats and sleeps well to avoid illnesses. This is the season they can catch colds. Exciting learning will happen in the classroom, and we do not want them to miss it. Students need to read daily at home for 20 minutes. Practice makes better! The highlight of the week was our Classical Character Day! Students enjoyed all the fun activities and talking about why they choose their character. Thank you to our home room parents for a cute and delicious treat, bookmark craft, and reading "The Day the Crayons Quit" on Classical Character Day! The students enjoyed all the activities.   Dear families, We are finishing October! This quarter will be busy with activities and academic learning. Character day is next week on Wednesday! Thank you to all the volunteers that helped us with reading and all the October supplies families who provided us with cleaning supplies. Thank you, Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week! Spalding:   New phonograms were taught this week! Two letter phonograms SH, EE, TH were introduced. Remember to underline the two letter phonograms. This marking states that these are two letter phonograms making one sound. We reviewed A and C from the previous first 26 phonograms. Students used their pink notebook to write their new spelling words/sight words ( go, at, on, it ). Reading:   Your child should read to an adult as daily homework, along with practicing the sight words. Remember students should read the whole word unless they are not sure about the word, ask your child to use their phonograms to sound out each letter to...

  Dear families, Welcome back! It was wonderful to meet with you at the parent-teacher conferences. Thank you for attending! I hope you had a well-deserved and restful break. Students are fresh and energized to start a new quarter! They are ready for the next chapter and all the academic challenges we will encounter! We are always persevering and trying our best effort. We reviewed the proper strokes for their best Spalding handwriting. For the first time, students used their Spalding Pink Notebook! Students were so excited about the new challenge! The purpose of this notebook is to write their spelling words learned for the week ( me, do, and, go ). The Spalding process is very rigorous on learning how to spell, read, and write the words using the learned phonograms and Spalding rules.   Dear families, As we head into Fall Break, I want to wish you all a wonderful and restful time together. Our kindergarteners have worked so hard, learning and growing in so many ways, and they truly deserve this special break. I hope these days are filled with joy, relaxation, and family fun. Dear families, Children have a natural curiosity and want to know more about everything. Is our job to keep their curiosity and nurture lifelong learners. Take the time to read fiction and non-fiction books to your child. Explore nature and spend time outdoors. Reflect about situations and how to learn from every experience.   Dear families, It is a joy for me to come to work every day! It is a pleasure to work with happy and healthy children! They are energetic and curious about everything we talk about in class! Two more weeks for the first quarter to finish! We are assessing students in all areas. We will share all the growth with you during parent-teacher’s conferences. We are learning how to sound out all the sounds students hear in some words, and then blend them together orally. That is a skill you can practice casually at home with CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant).   Dear families, We are enjoying each other in the classroom! Friendships are growing at school and students are feeling comfortable in the school environment. Students are learning when to be social, and when to concentrate on schoolwork. As I mentioned before, this is a learning process. In the classroom, we are talking about all the virtues, courage, responsibility, citizenship, honesty, integrity, and friendship. Whenever the opportunity arises, you can have family conversations at home about these virtues. Students need to be educated on their minds and souls. Thank you! Mrs. Bernal What we learn this week!
